VIEWS was recently featured in an article by Wired Italia examining how artificial intelligence is being harnessed to promote peace and diplomacy. The article highlights global initiatives that use machine learning and data-driven tools to support conflict prevention—including the Violence & Impacts Early-Warning System (VIEWS), developed by the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) and Uppsala University.
The piece, titled “E se usassimo l’intelligenza artificiale per fare la pace, anziché la guerra?” (“What if we used artificial intelligence to make peace, instead of war?”), explores the growing field of PeaceTech and the potential of AI to help overcome logistical, linguistic, and cultural barriers in diplomatic processes. It points to VIEWS as an example of how forecasting tools can provide early warnings of escalating violence, equipping mediators, analysts, and decision-makers with actionable insights.
We’re pleased to see VIEWS recognized among the leading efforts to apply AI for global peacebuilding.
