Paola Vesco and A. Lindqvist-McGowan Lead Workshop on AI-Powered Conflict Early-Warning for the Yemen Peace Process

Helsinki and Online—On 6 December 2024, VIEWS led a workshop session on the use of AI-powered conflict early-warning systems to support the Yemen peace process. The virtual session was part of a four-day intensive capacity-building workshop in Helsinki, hosted by CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation in collaboration with the Office of the UN Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY).

The workshop brought together UN staff members to strengthen practical understanding of how AI tools can be used responsibly in peace process support—building foundational AI literacy while exploring applied use cases relevant to OSESGY’s mandate and operational priorities in Yemen.

VIEWS’ Contribution

VIEWS’ Deputy Director Paola Vesco, and Operations & Outreach Manager Angelica Lindqvist-McGowan, led the session, showcasing VIEWS as an open platform for conflict forecasting. They explored its applications in early-warning, early-action, and strategic planning to enhance peacebuilding efforts.
