CCEW SYMPOSIUM 2024

Several members and friends of the VIEWS team participated in the symposium organised by The Center for Crisis Early Warning (CCEW) at the University of the Bundeswehr in Munich. Simon Polichinel von Der Maase (PRIO) presented “Mapping Conflict Dynamics – A Gaussian Process Approach to Estimating Temporal and Spatial Trends”, David Randahl (Uppsala University) presented “Forecasting Fatalities from Armed Conflicts Using Markov Models” and Paola Vesco (Uppsala University and PRIO) provided summarizing reflections from the 2023/2024 VIEWS Prediction challenge: Predicting the number of fatalities in armed conflict, with uncertainty.
