VIEWS Forecasts Power Conflict Component of FAO’s New Global Early Action Financing Facility
On July 1, 2025, the FAO launched the Financing for Shock-Driven Food Crisis Facility, aimed at preventing food crises through early warnings and anticipatory funding. Collaborating with VIEWS, which provides conflict risk forecasting, the facility enhances humanitarian responses. This partnership, notable at the launch in Rome, continues for another year.

The 2023/24 VIEWS Prediction Challenge: Follow Live Results and Performance Rankings
In 2023, VIEWS initiated a conflict prediction challenge to enhance early-warning systems by shifting focus from point estimates to probability distributions of fatalities in armed conflicts. Launch of Prediction Challenge Hosted by the Canadian DND/CAF: “Fast Forward – Forecasting Global Emerging Threats”
The Canadian DND/CAF launches the Fast Forward challenge, inviting innovators to use public data and machine learning to forecast fatalities in future armed conflicts. Ten teams may receive $25,000 each for model development, with top three teams winning up to $150,000. Applications are due by December 2, 2024.

VIEWS researchers recognized in the Scientific Background to the 2024 Nobel Prize in Economics
