The Uncertainty in Forecasting Fatalities in Armed Conflict (UFFAC) research project held a “research kitchen” workshop in Oslo, from 13-14 December. Throughout the two days, participants presented and discussed on various aspects of predicting with uncertainty, including data quality, modelling, calibration, and evaluation.

VIEWS panel at the NYU CIC Conflict Early Warning/Early Action Workshop in May 2021 on advancements in predictive model development for violence prevention, addressing the need for improved early warning systems, broad collaboration, actor layer details, and how accurate predictions can augment policy decisions and preventative strategies.

At the 2021 Emerging Technologies in Peacebuilding Workshop, VIEWS Director Håvard Hegre discussed the use of quantitative early-warning systems for predicting political violence, advocating for the ‘continuous multi-period incidence target’.
